Out or not out? Rishabh Pant’s dismissal in Mumbai leaves fans divided

The fans have been left completely divided on social media after Rishabh Pant was dismissed by Ajaz Patel in dicey fashion in the second innings of the Mumbai Test non Sunday, November 3. Pant was dismissed by Ajaz in the 22nd over when the Indian batter tried to defend coming down the track. The ball would hit his pads and balloon up in the air and straight into the hands of Tom Blundell.
The on-field decision was out and New Zealand decided to use their only remaining review in an attempt to overturn the decision. The snicko would show a spike when the ball was close to the pads, but Pant argued that his willow had hit his pads at the same moment. However, the 3rd umpire would say that it was a deflection off the bat and awarded the wicket to New Zealand.
Pant was left completely dejected by the call and took the long walk back to the pavilion, where he continued to argue that he hadn’t touched the ball with the bat.
The decision would certainly divide the fans on social media with some siding with Pant, while the others feeling that it was out. Many felt that the 3rd umpire had made the wrong call and Pant was robbed in the end.
While some did say it was out, they would also praise Pant for his valiant knock on a track where the Indian batting order crumbled on Day 3. You can see some of the reactions below:

Despite his dismissal and its manner, Pant can be happy with the work he has done in the 3 matches against New Zealand. In 6 innings, Pant ended up scoring 261 runs at an average of 52.20 and a superb strike-rate of 89.69.
Pant walked onto the field in Mumbai on Sunday with the Indian run chase in complete disarray. India had lost 3 wickets for just 18 runs and further slipped to 29 for 5. The Indian wicketkeeper would score his fifty in just 48 balls and was the final hope for India to get a win.
